NWW-RCIS Northwest Wisconsin - Upper Michigan Web Based Crime Information Sharing System

The northwest Wisconsin Regional Crime Information System allows law enforcement agencies to share information and perform queries via the Internet. Established in August 2000, the NWW-RCIS system today provides search capabilities to more than 70 agencies across three states.

NWW-RCIS uses hub and spoke architecture to provide a non-invasive dual access (public & private) application that provides the public with access to local law enforcement programs, contacts and jail information, and, law enforcement officers with access to over 450,000 records that are never more than 24 hours old. Data is automatically uploaded to an operational data storage system each day. Data is checked against rules and is then made available for search through a web portal.

Hub & spoke architecture provides agencies with the ability to continually grow and address local issues while being tied into state and national integrated justice systems. Of key importance, access methods employed provide a non-invasive process that preserves the integrity of every agencies data.
